During the second week of the semester, EU Society President Laura Emery delivered an introductory presentation on the semester’s central theme: European security. The presentation aimed to provide members with a broad understanding of the major security issues currently shaping the European Union and its global role.

The session covered a variety of topics related to European security, including geopolitical tensions, regional cooperation, defense policies, energy security, cyber threats, and the EU’s evolving position within international affairs. Through the presentation, members were introduced to both historical context and current developments influencing security discussions across Europe today.

The presentation also served as a guide for members as they begin preparing their own presentations for the semester. By presenting a wide range of possible discussion areas, the session encouraged members to think critically about issues they are personally interested in exploring further.
